Why is email marketing important?

Emails these days seem to be overdone and overused. I’ll even admit that I make ‘burner’ accounts that I give out whenever I’m shopping and want to get in on the sale or promotion. I’m not alone in doing this because we all feel that we get bombarded with them and it can be hard to constantly check your inbox and sift through the massive amounts of messages we get.

If we use them purposefully, then we can reap their benefits. Here are email marketing strategies that Odyssey Marketing Group leverages to ensure that your emails are causing people to interact with your business.

1.) Email automations from website form submissions:

When we make a purchase or request to receive more information about a product or service, what do we like to receive in return? A response! Look at it this way, if I pay money for a product or service online, I want that immediate response to know that my money is not just in the abyss. I want confirmation and validation as a customer. This is where I come in. Through email markeitng, we create automated journeys for our customers.

It does not have to stop there. For example, don’t treat every lead as equal. Some might be more interested than others. Therefore, we create automations that cater to that. We jump on the leads that express direct interest and for those who are just getting their feet wet, we slowly take them for a ride and nudge them along the way to make a decision.

Now that we’ve outlined an automation, let’s go into types of automations:

As mentioned above, we have automations that take your leads from online forrm submissions on a journey. However that is just touching on the surface.

2.) Review generating automations:

This is simple, when we do a good job for a customer, let’s get them to say something nice! It’s hard to remember to do this, so let’s take the remembering out of the equation and set up an automation that does this for us. By utilizing our CRM software, we send satisfied customers down an automated journey and encourage their feedback. Furthermore, we add links that prompt them to our review platforms. Let’s face it, if you call me and ask me to leave a review for you on Google, I’ll nod and say “yes of course, right away” but in reality, I’ll forget that. This way, we are staying in front of our customer and sending periodic reminders.

3.) Get return business:

Are you seeing a lot of one and done customers? A big reason for that is we often forget to stay in touch with our customers. Again, we are taking the ‘forget’ element out of the equation by organizing our customers into unique groups and targeting them with tailored content. Here’s an example that I love to do. Let’s say you’re a painter and you re-stained the deck for a customer just towards the end of exterior season and realized the house could use a repaint after winter. With CRM management and email automations, you can get more out of your customer by sending them through an automation during the winter so they get on your summer calendar early.

4.) Show your customers that you appreciate them:

We all like to feel special, so stay in front of your customer and show them that you appreciate their business. This can be in the form of a referral program, a discount on future service, or even just a simple nod of appreciation.

5.) Showcase new content or services through campaigns: Your campaign is to showcase a change or something new and exciting. This could be a number of things, maybe a new service area is opening up, a new product line your trying out, a deal or a special, a business milestone, etc. It’s important to show off what we are doing because it tells our customer that we are improving their experience.

Email is far from dead. It is a powerful and lively tool that promotes your growth and keeps you communicating with your leads and customers. When done correctly email marketing serves your customer and keeps them coming back because you are staying at the top of their mind when your competitors are not.
